  • Q: Why should I choose the OsCar over the BraVo?
A: The OsCar has more to offer than the BraVo. With the Oscar, you get a bi-directional RS-232 port enabling you to control a projector screen and as well as a projector and you can opt to use Neets Central Control via LAN.

This gives you the option to see lamp hours and use remote control of the connected rooms.
  • Q: What are the advantages of a bi-directional port over a uni-directional port?
A: You can use the two-way communication to inform the control panel which state the projector is in e.g. ON/ OFF, Cool down/ Warm up.

Furthermore, you can make the control system act on external changes. For example you can make the status indicators (LEDs) follow the status of the projector. In other words, the control system and projector are in sync.
  • Q: What is the I/O port usually for?
A: The I/O with a PIR motion sensor is brilliant for designing eco-friendly installations. You can make the PIR turn off your installation when no motion is detected. Remember to time the system so that it does not turn off too soon.

What you could also use your I/O for is a keyboard lock, which prevents unwanted handling of the control panel.
  • Q: Is it possible to access a GUI (Graphical User Interface) with the OsCar?
A: Yes, but you will only be able to see a fixed illustration of the interface you designed for the buttons in Neets Project Designer.

The buttons are interactive though with LED indication on change of state. For a fully configurable GUI, you will need to use a SieRRa II, AlFa II or DelTa.

Q: Is it possible to access a GUI (Graphical User Interface) with the OsCar?
  • Q: Am I able to control IR devices with the Oscar and how many?
A: Yes, the TX/IR port supports one IR emitter.
  • Q: Can I use the Neets Central Control software for the Oscar?
A: Yes, the OsCar is available in Neets Central Control.
  • Q: What software should I use for configuring the OsCar?
A: We recommend that you use the latest version of Neets Project Designer.
  • Q: What should I do when I want to use the panel as Enhanced LAN expansion?
A: Upload an empty project into the panel. This ensures that the systems are running the same firmware.
  • Q: How does extension devices communicate with the control system?
A: The Neets Control system uses Multicast to communicate. This is done on IP address 224.10.10.25 port 7979.
    • Each control system/extension device sends out a "keep a live" every 3 seconds.
    • If the control system has not received any message from an extension device for 10 sec it will indicate connection error.
    • The timeout is an individual timer for each extension device.
    • The “missing connection” indication will be removed when the connection is established and the extension device is initialized again.
    • The 10 sec timeout is reset whenever there are communication between the units e.g. when RS232 commands is transmitted or an event is triggered.
    • The control systems support IGMP, this allows the control system to only receive multicast packages on the address that it need and it also doesn't “Pollute” the entire network like UDP broadcast. In order to use IGMP the switch also need to support this.
