German company CPP Studios, who among other specializes in planning and coordinating events, film production and AV installations, has made a complete installation in IBM Headquarters in Germany using Neets Control – EU Professional, Central Control and Neets Audio Amplifiers.
CPP Studios has been ordered to provide a concept for a new innovative Media solution for the new IBM Headquarter in Germany. Beside a new 3D based digital signage system and equipment for several auditoriums, it also included a concept for a central controlled conference room solution.

When asked why Neets products where chosen for this project, CPP Studios Project Manager Oliver Günther states; “ The Neets control - EU Professional was very usefull for the IBM project, because it allowed us to integrate the Medianetwork we had planned“. Furthermore the Neets Central Control software gives the possibility to check the state and even control the control systems in all the conference rooms, making it very suitable for this project.
In total CPP Studios has installed 57 Neets Control – EU Professional and 59 Neets Audio Amplifiers version 2 and version 3 in order to control the audio visual equipment required in the project.
Neets Control – EU Professional and Central Control
The simplicity of a control system was a crusial point when choosing Neets products. The main feature that Mr. Oliver Günther pointed out was that you only have to press one button to the start the show. This was also one of the reasons why a touch panel was disqualified.

The Neets Control – EU Professional used in the IBM project, can access all vital functions of large screen projectors. At the same time the Neets Control - EU Professional controls screen, light, DVD, VCR and any other relay/LAN/RS-232/IR controlled device. The system has 2 RS-232 ports (bidirectional), 2 IR ports (in total you can control up to 6 devices via IR), 4 I/O – mainly for relays, and a LAN connection.
Another reason why Neets was preferred in this project was the Central Control software. This software enables you to monitor and control a building with Neets Control - EU Professional panels installed. It gives you an overview on critical information such as lamp- and filter hours. Furthermore the program enables you to control the panels individually and in groups, from one central computer
Neets Audio Amplifiers
The Neets Audio Amplifier Version 2 and 3 are the largest amplifiers in the series of Neets audio amplifiers.
Both amplifiers has 2x25 Watt amplifier in 8 Ohm. The amplifiers are secured with a short circuit speaker output. One of the huge benefits with the Audio Amplifier Version 2 is that when controlled via a Neets Control system, the Audio Amplifiers RS-232 loop through function will give you the possibility to control both the amplifier and a projector. This means that you can control two devices via RS-232 from a control system with only one RS-232 comport.
In the IBM project CPP studios used the RS232 loop thru feature of the Audio Amplifier version 2 to connect a VGA Switcher. Furthermore they used 2 Audio Inputs from the amplifier and used the RS232 to control the amplifier via the Control EU System.

The Audio Amplifier Version 3 has a microphone input with volume adjustment. The microphone input is used at the same time as another sound source (talk over music). The Audio Amplifier Version 3 is LAN controllable and you can control it with a Neets Control – EU Professional. When using LAN to control the Neets Audio Amplifier Version 3 you actually get 3 extra comports from the amplifier to control via the Neets control system. This means that besides the 2 RS-232 comports that you already have on your Neets Control – EU Professional, you get 3 extra via the Amplifier – giving you a total of 5 RS-232 comports.
In three cases in the IBM project the Audio amplifier version 3 was used because of its preamp out feature on top.
KISS
When asked if the standard Neets frace „keep it simple system (KISS)“ also applies for this project, Mr. Günther states; „Using the Media equipment is now very easy, because of the simplicity of the control system, and there are almost never questions, as to how the projector is started etc. The programming of the control systems is also very easy, as can be done via Network. That’s very practical, as you don’t have to go to each control system to program it. The user does not ask questions like „ how does this work“ and „why does it do that“ – That is good feedback – in my eyes“ |
